UTD Aluminium was founded in 2016 by industry veteran Gavin Cuthbert, a highly-skilled tool and die maker, who had previously worked for numerous aluminium companies throughout his 50+ year long career. Drawing on his extensive knowledge and experience he had acquired over the decades, he developed a unique design for his windows that not only allowed them to maintain a thin profile design, which was especially attractive in the cottage pane style, but also allowed for the integration of a burglar guard system, greatly enhancing the security of the windows.
With broad experience in tooling for the aluminium industry, and the unique designs of his aluminium windows and doors, he built up a strong and trusted reputation in the building and aluminium industry – a reputation he carried with him into UTD Aluminium. With every intention of keeping it in the family, his son, Paul, took an interest in the business, and Mr. Cuthbert passed down his knowledge and skills to him, ensuring the continuation of UTD’s strong reputation in world-class quality and engineering.
Since relocating to Summerveld in Outer West Durban, UTD has gradually built up its capacity, expanding their factory in 2021 to accommodate the increase in demand for their products. To this day, UTD remains industry-leaders, providing their customers with a seamless experience and unparalleled levels of service, and providing them with products that remain leagues ahead of the competition in terms of quality and technology.
